Update and Pictures

Good morning and Happy Labor Day weekend! Hope everyone is enjoying themselves - Jason and I went to the State Fair on Friday night... ate WAY too much... I won a stuffed animal playing carni games... went on some rides that made our feet go numb... Great time!

Quick updates:
Cole now has 5 1/2 teeth (one is almost through from what I can tell)
Is close to mastering putting yogurt bites in his mouth
Consciously says "mama and dada" to the right people... ok, he says it to others too but I think he actually gets it now
Has mastered the two small stairs and now wants to attempt the large flight
Doesn't like crawling in the grass
Is learning to stand on his own - I've caught him doing it a couple of times... I'm betting he'll be walking by Thanksgiving if not sooner
Cries when I say I "no" and mean it (awesome.)

I can't believe I haven't written anything about this yet... I guess it came up so fast that I didn't have a chance.

I got a new job!

I actually already had my last day at CM (last Friday) and am currently on my mini-vacation. I decided to take a week off in-between jobs... it's been SO nice! Lots of yoga, cleaning, shopping... not much relaxing but that's ok.

And yes, Cole is still in daycare. Think what you like but it would have been impossible to get all of this done (and enjoy so many yoga classes) with him home.

The new job: I'll be working at a media only agency called Haworth. I'll be working on the Target account which I'm very excited for. I'll still be downtown. It's only about a block away from CM so I won't even have to change parking garages!

I'll miss CM... the people especially... but it's a great opportunity that I knew I should take. So think good thoughts for me on June 6th - my first day!
[note: I had been at CM for 6 years so I'm a little nervous]

:: My lil' cousin Maliq has his grad party this weekend... he's off to Berkley next year!
:: Hoping Cole's second tooth comes through... he was pretty crabby yesterday and that darn tooth is to blame

Cole Bridger Rogowski

This post is well past due... Its bound to be spastic but the main point is Cole is here!

Cole Bridger Rogowski was born at 1:57pm on December 13th. Mom and Dad (so fun to say) went into the hospital at 3:30am and after a quick check were admitted. After some VERY painful back labor (the Natural birth plan went out the window when that hit) and a little help from pitocin, I started pushing at noon... Jason was WONDERFUL (actually that barley starts to describe him) through the whole thing but was the BEST labor coach ever. He was right there the entire time and had a good laugh as I kept saying "can't you just pull him out!" - After two hours of hard work, our little man was here! A screaming 8 lb, 21" long baby boy!

The next fews days at the hospital are still a blur but what came next is slightly more fresh. Cole's weight started dropping and his bilirubin started rising... after three trips to the doctor Cole was admitted to Children's Hospital Friday afternoon. I'm not going to go into all the details as it's not fun to relive it but the main thing is we are home, Cole is now eating like a mad-man, and his bilirubin levels are back to normal! We have a follow-up appointment on Tuesday to make sure he is still on the up-and-up so I'll make sure to report back after that.

To all the wonderful friends and family who have been trying to reach us to come meet Cole, this is why we haven't been responding... We wanted to make sure we got him home and back settled... BUT we do appreciate all your emails and texts wanting to come... you will all meet him soon... Promise! :)

So that is that - Both J and I are pretty worn down from the past week so in between the feedings ever three hours we sleep!

What a Weekend!

Friday: Attempted to make a homemade pizza (pesto, mushroom and chicken) but as I was preheating the oven the house became FILLED with smoke! Turns out our oven is in need of some major cleaning so homemade pizza was out and Papa John's was called.

Saturday: Got up nice and early and met the Pugh's for breakfast at the Good Day Cafe. So yummy! Jason had a softball tournament during the day so I took advantage and had a nice long nap and finally started a new book. Saturday night brought on some laughs with a few friends and Mexican food at El Rodeo for an early birthday celebration for J.

Sunday: I taught yoga while Jason attempted to take first place in their softball tourney... then it was off to the Rogowski's to share the news. Here's where the crying, jumping and LOTS of phone calls were made!

Both sets of Jason's grandparents were in town (yes, Limerick Dick was there) and it was also Mother's Day AND Jason's birthday! Jason was running late due to softball which prompted the story of Jason's birth (note: they didn't know yet). Apparently Jason's mom wasn't quite ready to be brought into the hospital and Jason's dad had a softball game so they all went to the fields... It was by the hospital so it only made sense! Well, about half-way through the game Jason was ready to come out so Dave had to leave the game early. This might not be too relevant except for the fact that Jason left his tourney before the championship game to make it to dinner. Something his father found quite odd. When we finally gave Pat her Mother's Day gift (picture below) everyone understood why Jason didn't finish the weekend.

Needless to say there were lots of tears and hugs over the next few hours... Phone calls were made (are probably still being made) and of course plans started forming (Carlos will be just in time for next ski trip to Montana).

All-in-all it was a GREAT weekend and an even better Mother's Day/Jason's Birthday!
