Welcome

Though most of this blog contains pictures, it's also a detailed account of my life living with three boys. And yes, they are all boys. Hope you enjoy... they're pretty cute (but often smell).

It’s been so long since I’ve actually written anything on here… and since I’m sure you’re all dying to hear about life…

First: Cole
Whoever coined the term “terrible twos” is a liar. There was nothing terrible about Cole at two. Sure, we had a few moments, but it really was not bad.
Now the three’s… we technically haven’t even hit them yet but YIKES! Talk about testing boundaries and throwing shit-fits. I love that kid to death, but when Jason was gone hunting last weekend… I swear I almost sold him on Craig’s List.
Other stuff about Cole. He’s doing really well at his new school. He LOVES to sing and has a really good ear for beats/rhythm. I think we might have a musician on our hands. He still loves sports (hockey, golf, football and basketball – all in the house) and is very exciting to go skiing in Montana over Christmas. He’s also been talking about learning to skate so I think hockey will be happening next Winter. We just finished his first round of swim lessons… again, he loved it, so we’ll be investigating the next set of classes once the Holidays are over.
Cole’s vocabulary continues to amaze me as well as his ability to transfer concepts to like situations. He’s definitely a smart kid… well beyond where he should be… and I’m hoping that continues more than anything!
Last, he’s excited to have a baby brother and somewhat gets the concept. I think he’ll get it even more as my stomach gets bigger and as we get closer to d-day.
Next week will be Cole’s third birthday! I can’t believe he’s so old… but I more can’t get over how big he is. I’ll have to update this with actual stats once we get them, but our home estimates put him at 42” tall, 40 lbs, wearing size 5T clothes and size 10 shoes. My future front hallway will be filled with giant clown shoes…

Second: Baby Boy Rogowski #2
This pregnancy has been a lot like the first. No morning sickness, food aversions or cravings, no weird allergies or anything else to report. I was dreadfully tired, way more than with Cole, for the first 4 months or so… but luckily that’s ended.
I’m also gaining weight like I did with the first… so that’s not the greatest… but oh well! Things could be worse!
We just had my 20 week appointment and everything is looking good. The babe is measuring about a week bigger (Cole was the same) but everything they checked has been perfect.
My doctor continues to harp on me about gaining weight… and wearing heels. Note to self: Do not wear 6” heels to the next appointment unless you want to get yelled at about personal safety!
Nothing else much to report – this pregnancy is going by faster in some aspects but a little slower in others. I’ll be happy to have a new lil’ man around the house, but I’ve COMPLETELY blocked out what it’s like to have a newborn, so I think we’re in for a rude remembrance come mid-April.

Last: J and I
Work for both of us has been busy. Lots of travel so we’ve been VERY fortunate to have grandparents around to hang out with Cole. We’re getting excited to head out to Montana next week for Christmas with J’s family… But before that we’ll be celebrating sis-mas with my family, I’ll be heading to Vermont for work, then Cole’s superhero birthday party… so just a few things to get to before vacation!
Once we get back, we'll be wishing Nana and Papa Pugh a farewell as they head to FL for three months! I have no comment as I gaze outside to the -7 degree weather.

Before I end this lengthy update, have to say a huge congrats to all the expecting parents, new parents and newly engaged couples out there!!! The past few months have been filled with exciting life-updates and we’re hoping for a few more over the next couple of months…

Thanks for reading and hope you all are having/will have some very happy Holidays!

Weekend Update

Where did the weekend go? It was here and gone faster then I thought possible!

What happened:
I went to my first post-prego yoga class!!! It was amazing - like going home. It was a 90 minute Hot Yoga class and while I couldn't do everything (stomach got in the way of some postures) I was remarkably not as bad as I thought I would be. This will be a weekly occurrence!
Also on Saturday I went out to brunch with my good friend Nicole - mama date - I would love to say the conversation didn't totally focus on kids but it did. And it was awesome!
Jason went and played hockey outside and then brought some of the guys over for football, beer and pizza!

Sunday was a lazy day at home until the Packers played... then it was a lot of yelling, cheering and dancing... they won if you didn't catch the game! J is calling Cole his good luck charm as the Pack have not lost a game since he's been born. No pressure on the kid or anything!

Cole Update: Since my last post our little man has decided to shorten his night sleeping (going back to 3-4 hour shifts) and become a needy napper. Normally he is content sleeping in his Pack 'N Play during the day but the past two days it seems like holding him is the only option. I'm not complaining... I do LOVE to snuggle with him... but that means daytime activities are put on the back burner [this post has taken about 30 minutes to write due to the fact that I'm typing with one hand and holding him with the other]. Hopefully this is just a phase and my cute non-crying baby will be back soon!

Cole's Second Week and First Christmas!

Where does the time go? Even though we've been on a pretty tight schedule (eat, poop, sleep) the days just seem to fly bye.

Cole has passed his birth weight (8.1) and is doing wonderfully. He's a great sleeper (J and I really love that) but is becoming much more curious when he's awake. He's looks around, reacts to voices and then makes this adorable old man face as he pushes out a poop. Never thought I would think that was cute but I can't get enough of it!

On a personal front, Jason will be starting a new job with Olson-Denali Marketing after the new year. He's very excited and I'm very jealous of the brand new Mac Book Pro he got! He'll be a couple of blocks away from my work so we'll see how car pooling goes. I'm not the most pleasant of drivers in the morning... might get a little tense!

Over the past week Cole has gotten to meet lots of good friends from both near and far. He's been awake for about half of those meetings! Here are some pictures:

Nicole with her daughter Nora and Cole... Future couple alert???

Jordan with Nora and Cole... Kinda scary!

Grandpa Dude and Cole... just chilling

Fraunty Jen... looks pretty natural to me

Leah and Jim stopped over on Christmas Eve morning... So excited for these two and their wedding in September!!!!

Had to throw this one in here :: Our Christmas Eve dinner table

Last but not least... Cole on Christmas Eve. He's the best present we've ever and will ever get!

Jason and I hope all of you reading this have a wonderful Holiday and that you get to spend it with family and friends!

Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Two Weeks and Counting!

How big is baby? Los is about 7 lbs. and is in the 80th percentile! According to one website he’s the size of a watermelon… on another, a duffle bag. Both seem extremely large when I try to picture it in my stomach so I’m just going to go with “he’s the right size to come out and not kill me”.

Maternity Clothes? I’ve given up on looking cute. Last week I was a real trendsetter: I wore Jason’s sweater to work one day and yoga pants another. Unless there is a client meeting on my calendar don’t expect too much from me!

Sleep: Some nights it’s great (only getting up once to pee) and others it’s awful. Last night happened to be an awful one so there is a lot of glaring and crabbiness exuding from my office.

Movement: Most of the blogs you read will talk about a decrease in movement by this stage since the baby is usually so squished… Well lucky for Los I’m pretty lengthy so he’s still able to move and groove. I actually think this is my favorite stage for movement because you can tell what’s moving across your belly... “Oh, that was his foot” or “I think he just punched my ***”!

Food cravings: I’m trying to reframe “craving” in my mind – this prego weight isn’t going to come off if I’m still eating ice cream and Baby Ruth’s every night!

What I miss: Every little thing that I miss can be summed up into one big thing: I miss my old body. I never thought it was tight enough or strong enough but after being this round… this “waddley”… I’m thinking I was pretty damn perfect!

What I am looking forward to: I’m looking forward to the final piece of this crazy prego-puzzle… ‘LOS! J and I are as ready as we will ever be so bring it on! I’m ready to get my ass kicked in labor, to be sleep deprived from having to feed him every few hours, to get peed on when I attempt to change his diaper… I’m ready to make silly faces for hours on end, to snuggle with his chubby cheeks (I’m just assuming here), to take millions of pictures of every little face he makes… I’m ready to be a mom.

Milestones: This kid is cooked!

Say What?: Hearing the doctor say I was already 3 cm dilated was very cool… but now very annoying. Every night you go to bed hoping to be woken-up by contractions… you wake-up in the morning wondering if you’ll have to leave work early because your water’s going to break… updating a status sheet before you leave work every night in case you don’t make it in the next day… Basically I’m spending WAY too much time thinking this kid is going to come and I blame my stalled cervix.

'Los Update

Just got back from the doctor and thought I would give you a quick update:

'Los is turning out to a little land monster: 80th percentile weighing just under 7 lbs. We had a wonderful ultrasound nurse who let us spy on the little guy - he got annoyed and stuck-out his tongue at us!

As far as when 'Los is going to be here... well, I'm already 3 centimeters dilated (sorry if that's TMI for some of you) so our doctor is confident that he'll be here before Christmas!

To say J and I are excited would be an understatement!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend - careful on the roads all of you in MN

Week in Review

It started with a nice short week at work (Monday-Wednesday). The weather wasn’t the greatest all week but I had a pretty cute driver when it got really bad on Wednesday!

Thursday = Thanksgiving

I don’t think there is anything better than being pregnant on Thanksgiving. You get to wear pants with an elastic waistband and no one looks at you funny when you go back for thirds on dessert!

In all honestly, Thanksgiving was wonderful this year – It was spent at my aunt Lindsay’s house with my wonderful family… I wish J could have been there but he spent the holiday with his dad’s extended family in Wisconsin. He got another deer so I we won’t be starving this winter.

Friday was my 28th birthday: I got to spend the day with one of my bestest friends, Jen. She was back from NYC and we decided to do a little pampering… massage for her and much-needed haircut for me. Then it was lunch and some shopping before heading home. That night Jen, Nicole and Amy came over for some good ole girl talk accompanied by unhealthy food.

Saturday started off with another epic kitchen fail (cheese cake pops are NOT easy to make) and cleaning… then it was off to my final baby shower hosted by Jen and Nicole.

It was SO fun!!!! So many good friends from all over and SO much good food! I was completely spoiled (once again) and left with the biggest smile on my face. Thank you SO much ladies!!!!!

Saturday night I had two fun house guests: Ashley and Olivia. Got some great advice from Ash and learned how to give a cute lil’ girl a bath in the sink!

And that brings us to Sunday!

Sunday morning was my last yoga class (teaching) until Spring. It was a wonderful class of about 30 energized students including my newest yoga addict, Jason.

So that pretty much brings us up-to-date!

Upcoming Events: Last ultrasound on Friday, finishing up baby/nursery shopping, decorating the Christmas tree, Holiday parties for work, Slota’s MN wedding reception, and waiting for Los to arrive… I’ve been given strict instructions to have him before Christmas so people can meet him when they’re home!

45 Days to Go

How big is baby? At our last ultra sound he was measuring average! My last doc appointment (this past Friday) my stomach was measuring on track with my weeks. Guess all the fear of having this humongous baby might have been for nothing. Our doc isn’t so positive so I’ll still be getting one more ultrasound on December 3rd.

Maternity Clothes? I think I’m running a 5 outfit rotation from here on out. This belly will not be hidden any longer and non-maternity dresses are about 6 inches higher in the front than the back! Not very cute...

Sleep: It’s pretty much clockwork that at 3:45am I wake-up to pee… after that it usually takes a while to fall back asleep since Los thinks its fun to show-off his yoga moves. His little butt likes to move up into my ribs and then back down (downdog to plank?) several times before finally settling down.

Movement: As mentioned above, he’s taking a break from his soccer skills and is now deepening his yoga practice. I guess it’s my own doing but the near constant stretching is starting to get annoying!

Food cravings: No cravings but per the last “weigh in” I will be laying off my Sunday baking routine! Carrots and apples anyone????

What I miss: Not having to wonder if the bottom of my belly is hanging out :: caring if my belly is hanging out :: having people stare at you because you spilled on yourself and not because you look like you have a boulder under your shirt

What I am looking forward to: 'LOS! Every time I’m in one of our birthing classes or prenatal yoga sessions I realize more and more how much I just want this little guy here. I feel like I’ve seen enough births, heard the term “squat” more than necessary, taken too many trips to Babies R Us… let’s get this show on the road! [note: I know it’s still too soon… he still needs to cook for a bit longer]

Milestones: The nursery is almost done and I put together the glider all by myself!

Say What?: Strangers don’t really approach me (again, I think I must look angry all the time) but the comments of (after looking me up-and-down) “wow, you must be close” or “looks like your about done” are really not that awesome. 1) I’m already counting down the days so I really don’t need your reminder; and 2) That comment tells me that I look like I’m smuggling an exercise ball under my shirt and/or look miserable – either way it’s not nice.

The BEST comments I’ve gotten (all from women who have surely been pregnant before): “Oh my gosh, you look so small for being that far along!” To these women I say "thank you" and "I love you"

10 In One Hand :: 70 In The Other

How big is baby? This kid is definitely still on the hefty-track. According to Dr. Gosen he’s still about two weeks ahead which puts him at about 3 ½ lbs and 17 inches long. My doc appointments are now every other week so they’ll be keeping a close eye on how big he gets. Next week I’ll be having another ultrasound to measure his shoulder width/tummy size to make sure he’s going to “fit” – if not, then good bye six pack!

Maternity Clothes? I’m getting a little sick of my wardrobe at this point. I’m used to a much deeper rotation and right now it’s limited to about 5 dresses, one pair of jeans (one pair of my maternity jeans makes my legs feel like squished sausages so I’ve retired those) and yoga pants. Since it’s somewhat frowned upon to rock lululemon’s at work I’m getting a bit tired of my dresses.

Sleep: Not too shabby! It helps that I’m usually falling asleep on the couch by 9:45 but I’m sleeping through the night. Now, with sleeping through the night comes the 6:25am wake-up. Every morning. No fail. That part is not as much fun on Saturday mornings BUT, I shouldn’t complain since I’m getting a solid 9 hours every night.

Movement: ‘Los definitely has his key exercise times. Typically first thing in the morning (I’m guessing Sun Salutations to start the day), while I have my morning [decaf] coffee at work, a little jog after lunch (to work off those calories), and then some nighttime stretching before bed.

Food cravings: Still no cravings but boy have I been baking (re: the past four posts)

What I miss: Being able to get off the couch without help (I’m a turtle stuck on my back) :: being able to tell the difference between my dreams and reality :: red wine :: touching my toes :: seeing my toes

What I am looking forward to: Having a baby! Since my last doc appointment I’ve had to think a little more about labor and the fact that it’s pretty much all out of my control – I’ve realized that I’m totally fine with that and that no matter what happens I’ll get to leave with my lil’ guy. Now, I’d like to go out walking on my own without (A) stitches in my tummy or (B) stitches down below… but I have a feeling one of the two is going to happen so I should just stop worrying about it.

Milestones: We got the crib put together and in the nursery. We finished registering (Target). We start birthing classes this week. I’ll be certified to teach prenatal yoga soon. Only 10 weeks left!

Say What?: I finally started getting random stranger comments. I’m not a fan but I know these weirdoes mean well.

Lady at Great Harvest: Congrats!

Me: On What?

Lady: The baby…. (said very cautiously)

Me: Oh! That’s right. Thanks!

Guy at convenience store: No peanut butter and pickles?

[Apparently my Root Beer, Doritos and Fruit Mentos was not an odd enough combination for him]

Manager at Caribou and some yoga students: Every time I see you that stomach gets bigger and bigger!

Me: No shit!

[Ok, I didn't say that but I wanted to…. ]

Double Digits - WooHoo!

How big is baby? At our last doctor appointment (9/10) the little bugger was 1 lb. 13 ounces (74thpercentile). If he keeps up this pace I’m in for a hefty kid!

Maternity Clothes? I think I might have to buy some maternity shirts. I’ve been busted (by Jason) a few times with the bottom half of my belly sticking out from my non-prego shirts. But I refuse to give up my heels… in fact; I just purchased a very cute pair on suede booties (2.5” heel of course). Here’s a picture for you:

Sleep: Sleep has become a bit irregular lately. Some nights it’s fine and other nights it’s not so fine. I’m trying out the “pillow between the knees” suggestion and hoping that will work. The dream factor is still nuts. It’s amazing how vivid they are!!! Most mornings I have to lie in bed and reassure myself that I didn’t decide to go all surrealist on the nursery…

Movement: This kid is break dancing in my stomach which is a new development over the past week – I swear he never stops. Just when I think he’s calmed down… BAM! A whole other round of kicks and punches. I’ve been told this slows down once he gets bigger due to lack of room, but I’m pretty lengthy so I think he’ll be tangoing up until the end.

Food cravings: Not much to report again. I’m trying to cut back on my sweet tooth… a 10 lb weight gain in a month will do that to you!

What I miss: Yoga… aggressive workouts… a really good glass of wine after a hellish week at work.

What I am looking forward to: Cold weather and getting closer to the showers. When it was super warm out it felt that the baby coming was really far away. As the weather changes it starting to feel like it’s finally getting closer and I’m really excited for it. I’m also really excited for the showers that are being planned. Obviously it will be awesome to get more stuff for the baby but I’m mainly excited to see everyone. So many of my girlfriends live out-of-state so I don’t get to see them as often as I like. Knowing that I get to see that and giggle with them in a few short months is SO wonderful!

Milestones: The countdown is now in double-digits! I probably shouldn’t look at it (a watched pot never boils and all that jazz) but it was cool to see if move from 100 to 99! Other mini-milestones: finishing painting the nursery (scroll down for pictures), registering for baby stuff, deciding on a name (sorry, keeping that one a surprise), passing my glucose test (you have no idea how nervous I was for that one), and winning my first fantasy football match-up!

Say What?: So I must look angry because I haven’t had any strangers approach me with advice or ask to touch my stomach. The only reason I want the second one to happen is because I’ve decided upon a smart-ass response (shocking, I know) and I’m dying to say it.

What I have noticed, and that kind of baffles me, is when people you know/work with ask you how you are, and you just say “fine, how are you?” and they seem pissed. Like I’m always supposed to go into some lengthy chat about my peeing habits or the details of my ovaries! Sorry sir, not gonna happen. And why is it such a bad thing to care about someone else? Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I need to be the center of the universe (though I think it might be orbiting around my belly if it gets any bigger)… I know they care and are excited for me but I don’t always want to talk about the fact that I can’t see my cute shoes!

23 Weeks/Almost 6 Months

How big is baby? Our little guy, according to the Bump, is just over a pound and about the size of a papaya. Don’t see many papayas here in MN so I’m going to just say “bigger than a cantaloupe” since that was last month’s fruit.

Maternity Clothes? Only “maternity” items are my GAP jeans but I’m thinking I might have to add a new pair into the mix. I feel like such a skeeze-ball wearing them so often. Besides the jeans, my normal attire consists of dresses and tight t-shirts. I’m not much for the baggy/mu-mu look… might as well show this bad-boy off!

Sleep: Waking up a lot more but luckily I’m able to fall back asleep. Jason was very proud of me this past weekend as I was able to sleep in until 8:00! Still having odd dreams but at least I’m well rested.

Movement: This kid loves to move! I notice him the most when I’m sitting at work or lying in bed. Had fun watching my stomach move around the other night… J thought it was like something out of Alien which I wasn’t too offended by as I sometimes feel the same way.

Food cravings: Nothing these past few weeks. I think my cravings haven’t been as apparent since I don’t really deprive myself… Maybe I should start laying off the ice cream cups then I will have something better to write here.

What I miss: I’m starting to miss the things in my wardrobe that I’ve now moved into the “can’t fit into these anymore” closet. Not that I’m limited in my choices… you just always want what you can’t have and right now that’s my white button-up dress shirt and mustard-yellow belt.

What I am looking forward to: In the short term I’m really looking forward to decorating the nursery and registering for baby stuff. We’ve done a really good job on waiting to do stuff (I’m looking at that from a positive angle) so the idea of getting started is really exciting. Obviously I have no idea what I need to register for (that’s what my handy new-moms are for) and am totally circling on how to decorate his room but I think it will be a fun adventure.

Milestones: Seeing my belly move was pretty fricken cool but I think those Irish jigs are taking a toll on my bladder. I’ve feel like I’m wearing down a path in the carpet from my office to the bathroom! I think one other milestone might be attending my first prenatal yoga class. My non-prego-yogi friend went with me and we giggled our way through all the “dancing” and goddess poses. I’m sure we killed the experience for all the other mamas in the room but I had a damn good time.

Say What?: Haven’t had too many yet but my friend Katye has had some very colorful comments. I can’t share too many (due to language and overall crudeness) but here is my fav:

“You’re boobs are going to be out of control!”

Week 20

We had another great weekend filled with biking, weddings and friends. Not too much detail for you all but here’s a picture from Lindsay’s wedding (she was STUNNING). Notice the only person over 3 ft. tall about to tackle the tower of desserts!

Cantaloupe: 'Los gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies respond best to tastes they've already had via amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you'd like your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch

I'm half-way there! It’s a great feeling but also a frustrating one… I’m not the most patient person so knowing there is still five months is a bit overwhelming. One thing that helps pass the time is the monthly doctor appointments. This next one coming up is especially exciting as we WILL be finding out the sex of the baby… I don’t care if I’m there all day doing toe touches to move that kid around… I’m not leaving until I know! {This is also a nice reminder to put your vote in over to the right}

How’s Jason doing at the half-way mark? Well, he’s started to become the over-protective dad. Examples:

  • Carlos now has taste buds so I’m required to lay-off the DQ and O’Douls (don’t want ‘Los getting a “taste” for beer this early on)
  • Our cat Lewis is no longer allowed to lay on my stomach as J thinks he’s squishing the baby
  • On that note I’m not allowed to push on my stomach for the same reason
  • A co-worker got Chicken Pox so I was forced to call the doctor for any preventative steps (even though I knew there wasn’t any AND I’ve already had them)

I can’t wait to see how this list grows over the next five months (and over the next twenty years if we have a little girl)!

Weekend Update and Week 19

For a weekend that was spent running around, it sure was a fun one!

Friday: After work I headed over to Jason’s softball game where I met up with Jason’s parents and cousins Sydney and Eric (in from Seattle). After they won (of course) we all headed to BW3s and then prego had to go home and get some sleep – it was a LONG week…

Saturday: Jason had a tee-time at 7:30am so I was graciously woken up at 6:00am!!! As he went off to Hazy Morning I went for a bike ride and then for a “surprising” haircut [the surprise was the 90210 bangs I ended up with]. Then the fun: our dear friend Jordan is leaving us for Denver so a going away party was hosted in his honor. Grilling at Ross’ was followed by an interesting, “guys only”, evening activity. I’ll let Jason fill you in on that but it sounded like a fun time!

Sunday: As I taught yoga Jason once again played golf but this time to support the Forest Lake Hockey Blue Line Club (not exactly a charity but close). As he continued to drive the green I got to have fun at the Como Zoo with Syd, Eric, Pat, Dave, Lisa and Dan (Jason’s aunt and uncle). I forgot how much fun the zoo can be… and how painful the sun can be when you forget sunscreen! After mini-donuts and dipin’ dots I left the zoo to pick-up Jason for pizza and True Blood (yes, more food).

So there you have it – Jason has LOTS of pictures from the going away party but those aren’t very baby friendly so he’ll have to email those to you separately!

Mango: [Note: I’m skipping the update on the baby because it was all about dead skin cells and fluids – I thought the mama update was a little more reader friendly]. Those nasty leg cramps are probably making it tough to get comfortable. One way to ease the pain: Extend your leg and flex your ankle and toes toward your knees. Or enlist your partner for a calf (and back!) massage. Good news: Your now-bulging belly should get you a little more compassion from everyone around you.

I can’t complain too much about the leg cramps or the pre-pubescent skin that I’ve got rocking since I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy so far… no stomach sickness, no heartburn, not a single food aversion/craving… I am getting a little tired of the “prego-brain” but if losing my train of thought is at bad as its going to get, I’ll take it!

I've also been getting a lot of requests for belly pictures... There's not a whole lot to show right now. It's definitely bigger than before but not that exciting... BUT I'll try to get one taken this week/weekend and post it so some of you will quiet down! :)

Weekend Round-Up and Week 18

This is going to be a long one so buckle-up!

Friday: Doctor’s appointment where Lil’ Los decided to keep his/her legs crossed so we’ll be waiting until Aug. 13th to find out if it’s a boy or girl. Went to see Inception at 10:30 – who says you can’t enjoy gummy bears and popcorn before noon? If you haven’t seen it yet, go now! It was awesome! In the evening we headed down to the Twin’s game with Mama and Papa Pugh. Such a fun, hot night!

Saturday: Lunch with the wonderful Carol and Jenny Holm (and my beautiful mom) at Panino’s (if you haven’t been, go now). Lots of laughter and catching up – one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. After lunch Jen and I went to see little Hannah and catch-up with the Johnston’s. Then it was off to shop and grab dinner with the ladies… All before the MASSIVE storm swept through the cities. I spent the evening in the basement (by myself) desperately searching for internet as the TV was down and I had no idea if I would live or die (tornados are NOT a part of my favorite things). As I huddled downstairs Nicole was stuck in a Walgreens bathroom waiting out the storm… I think she had it worse.
Sunday: Got up and taught some yoga, cleaned the house, mowed the lawn and then hosted an impromptu dinner party with a few of J’s friends… This nesting menu featured Chicken Fajitas, Carlos Quinoa, Guacamole and Lime Cake with Blackberry Sauce (which was a MAJOR fail). The boys turned the night into a little Sunday Funday as I sipped my O’Douls and laughed at their stories.

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Sweet Potato: Los is become amazingly mobile, passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. Carlos is finally big enough that I'll soon be able to feel his/her movements.

Jason was able to witness these movements first hand at our Doc appt last Friday. I don't think he was prepared to see the little arms flying around in my tummy as he yelled "holy crap, does that hurt" as he stared at the monitor. All the nurses (except one) thought he was cute as he weighed and measured himself while I got my finger pricked!

Besides not finding out the sex it was a great appointment. Los is healthy and measuring a week ahead/bigger than normal. I'm not surprised but a little nervous as we are only 18 weeks in and this baby is already super-sized.

Week 17

Onion: Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

This is the week… Hopefully.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up [of finding out if Carlos is a boy or girl] but it’s hard not to. There are so many reasons it won’t work but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed all week.

This weekend was a filled with softball and pampering. After hitting my second tri I’ve been itching to get my hair touched up and was able to get in on Saturday with the fab Stacy Fraley at Guys & Dolls. What was even better about this trip was that my mom came with for a belated Mother’s Day/Birthday gift. She got a super cute cut and I got blonder. After we headed next door for Manis/Pedis and then lunch. It was a great day!!!

Jason’s softball team had a tourney in Robbinsdale/Crystal where they took home the first place trophy after many games in the hot sun. J is looking quite tan these days… I’m just a tad darker then transparent.

We also got to see Jenna and all of her friends as they ventured home from a weekend Bachelorette party… They didn’t look as rough as I thought they would and they had lots of hilarious stories to tell, though completely inappropriate for a baby blog!

It was a really fun weekend but I’m thinking this upcoming weekend might top it: having Friday off, a Carlos reveal, Twin’s Game with the Pugh’s, old friends in town, and much more! Did I mention we might find out of we’re having a boy or girl? :)

Week 16 and 4th of July

Avocado: Have to start watching what I say...tiny bones forming in Carlos' ears mean he/she can now pick up my voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Now personally I think an orange is bigger than an avocado but Jason decided it must be one of those mammoth ones from somewhere tropical! That made me feel better!

Other then sprouting some hair ‘Los has been pretty inactive from my side of the stomach. I’m getting to the stage of “come on, let’s see something here” but I’m trying to be patient. We have a doctor appointment next Friday where (fingers crossed) we’ll hopefully be finding out the sex. It will be close with timing but I think the little bugger will make it happen!

4th of July Round-Up: Trip to Milacs, a round of golf, countless rounds of cribbage, Mexican Train (new favorite game), movies galore, bike rides, extended family dinners, LOTS of donuts, and of course fireworks (big and little). It was a really fun weekend which made it all the more difficult to get out of bed this morning.

Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!!!!

p.s. I added a "boy or girl" poll on the right side of the page to see what everyone thinks we'll be having!
