Welcome

Though most of this blog contains pictures, it's also a detailed account of my life living with three boys. And yes, they are all boys. Hope you enjoy... they're pretty cute (but often smell).

Life Update

It’s been way to long since I’ve written an actual post vs. just sending pictures from my phone. So much has happened in the last month and I need to write this out before I forget it all!

Hudson’s 2nd Birthday!
It’s hard to believe he’s two years old. Not because he’s small, or not talking, or running, or doing everything in his power to be independent… It’s because these last two years have gone WAY too fast. Like scary fast.

Anyways – here’s some updates on Huddy:
·        36” tall and 34 lbs.
·        Head size is 99%
·        Size 6 diapers
·        Running, jumping, climbing, spinning, somersaulting – overall a VERY active guy
·        Loves fruit – I think his new favorites are blackberries and cuties
·        Sings ABCs on repeat in the mornings
·        Goes to bed at 7:30 and sleeps until a little before 7:00 most mornings
·        Still doing a 1-2 hour nap after lunch
·        Mimics everything you say… especially his daddy and Cole
·        LOVES his brother but they are for sure starting to act like brothers – bickering over toys, wrestling, stealing food… ok, maybe that’s just Huddy!
·        Still in his crib but that will have to change soon
·        Is obsessed with Jason – I don’t matter if he’s anywhere in the house
·        Is a motor head – loves cars, trucks, motorcycles. Anything with an engine
·        Is very smart and funny – and he knows it!
·        Still sleeps with his monkey every night but throws him on the floor every morning (not sure why I think that’s so funny)
·        Is still charming all the ladies at school… and everyone else in his life!

House:
About a month ago we found a house on Weaver Lake that both J and I loved. We hadn’t really been looking to move, but kept our eye on the market for anything that might force our hand. This one did! It’s a little bigger than our current house but it’s on the lake with a sandy beach and a big yard. After going back and forth with the owners we realized we needed to get our house on the market in order to get our lake house. We started cleaning, decluttering, fixing up small things… and then put it on the market last Thursday night. On Friday we had an offer (after 13 showings) and Saturday we accepted it! Inspections are tomorrow (4/21) and if all goes well we will be closing a moving on May 25h! We are now accepting applications for friends who want to help us move. Payment will be a one year reserved beach chair anywhere on our property!

Cole:
It’s crazy how much someone can change in 6 months. Around Cole’s 5th birthday we were struggling with attention and behavior issues at home and at school. He was still a great kid but he was not the agreeable, fun loving, enjoyable boy he had been for the last 4 years. Besides getting him to bed earlier, I can honestly say that we haven’t changed our routine with him too much – I truly think it’s him just maturing – because in the past 6 months he is a totally awesome kid! He listens perfectly at school, and almost perfectly at home. He’s kind and one of the funniest people I know. His teachers comment on it almost weekly and it’s made everyone a lot happier! He’s really into drawing and writing. Kindergarten is going to be a piece of cake for this kid! His mini-mite hockey season ended about a month ago so now he’s playing spring league hockey, taking taekwondo and will start soccer in July. He’s riding his two-wheel bike so fast now that we can’t keep up on foot and is excited to be able to fish every day at our new house. Cole shocks Jason and I every day with how smart and articulate he is. He also has a bursting out laughing with his comedic timing and wit. I’m not biased, this kid is seriously funny [he takes after me]. Cole will start school at Rush Creek in the Fall – fulltime kindergarten and before and after school at Primrose.

That’s all I have time for now – but add in some major work changes for me, Jason being a one-man moving machine, summer plans and a million other things… we’re not short on chaos at the Rogowski house.

‘Til next time!

Hudson Update: 16 Months

Yikes! Sorry Huddy Buddy, it’s been so long since I’ve written at length about you.

·         Age: 16 Months Old
·         Weight: 33 lbs. (but you’ve been trimming down since you started RUNNING)
·         Height: Ummm, good question. You’re tall
·         Teeth Count: 8th one just poked through
·         Diaper Size: 5
·         Clothes Size: 24 month/2T (or Cole’s clothes if dad is dressing you in the morning)
·         Nap: Just one a day; typically around 11:30/12:00 and for an hour + 30 minutes
·         Bedtime: 7:30pm and you sleep until around 7:00am (THANK YOU!)
·         Food: You eat EVERYTHING and ALL THE TIME! Your favorites are raspberries, but any fruit will do. You love pasta and pancakes (not together). You slam milk like no other and you get VERY angry if we don’t feed you quick enough.
·         Talking: We’ve figured out a few words (tractor, dad, mom, dog, car) but it’s still a little tricky to understand. But you do talk all the time… full sentences. Non-stop!
·         Walking: This should more say “running” as you are always sprinting around the house. You never stop moving when you’re awake.
·         Other things:
o   You love your brother and want to play with what he has. If he’s on timeout you will go sit with him. He’s pretty awesome with you too… gives you snacks and shares his cookies on “cookie Friday” with you.
o   You are obsessed with your Monkey stuffed animal. Won’t sleep without it and carry it around with you. You also eat his nose.
o   You bite! I’m not sure if you do at school, but you love to take chomps out of mom and dad! And then you giggle your head off after…
o   Mosquitos and you do NOT get along. You’ve had some appendage swell-up every week (currently it’s your foot) due to mosquito bites.
o   You laugh in the face of authority. No, you really do. Any time I tell you “no” you laugh in my face and do it anyways.
o   You’re love to wrestle with your dad… actually anyone who’s on the ground is fair game to you.
o   You are stinking cute and SO happy! You’re always smiling and have the ladies at daycare wrapped around your finger.
o   You’re silly and love making faces… you growl and roar all the time, blow raspberries and just cause havoc around the house.

Dad and I love you tons, even though you get into everything and eat us out of house & home! Can’t wait to watch you get older and see what a little bruiser you turn into!

Dear Huddy,

This past year has gone way too fast. It really seems like only a few weeks ago that I was home on maternity leave with this little chubby baby... now I'm writing this post as my (still) chubby toddler takes a nap after housing more food than this big brother.

So much like I did for Cole, here is my note to Hudson.

Dear Huddy Buddy,

Happy birthday 16th birthday! How do I know it's your sweet sixteen??? Well, there's no way you dug through this blog to find this post on your own... and since I have the best intentions in mind, I likely forgot about this letter until this major milestone hit.

Ok, back to it.

I'm guessing that you're still one the sweetest kids around and always ready to smile and laugh. You do that all the time now and it's one of my favorite things about you. Unless you're hungry or want to be picked up, you constantly have a big toothy grin (oh lord are your teeth wonky right now) on your face!

Speaking of hungry, you're a big kid. I'm guessing you still are by likely a gentle giant. You're way off the charts for height, weight and head size... rocking clothes that should be way too big for you (24+ month/2T) and shoes that are already half the size of your brothers. You are an awesome eater and not picky... Yogurt bites and raspberries are your favorite.

You adore your brother and only want to play with what he has. Doesn't matter if you're surrounded by toys, if Cole has something in his hands, you want it. And 99% of the time you try to take it from him. You're constantly rough housing and trying to climb on him... I hope you still do that but not with any malice. I'm sure I have more than a few grey hairs from you two by now. I hope you're best friends and that Cole has set a good example for you... I also hope you've rattled his cage a time of two as he's a bit of a perfectionist!

Besides your brother, you absolutely light up the minute your dad is in the room. We did an experiment the other day: I walk out of the room = nothing. Dad walks out of the room = HUGE alligator tears and screams. You do realize that I'm the one that gave birth to you... NATURALLY! Yep, you're 9.6 lb booty was pushed out without any drugs. You should probably stop reading this and go make me a card and buy me a coffee as a "thank you". Just saying.

Anyways. Getting back to you. :)

More than anything, I want to tell you how much fun it's been since you came along. Besides the near constant ear infections and occasional 5am wake-ups, you are one of the most easy going and happy babies in the world! You have the biggest blue eyes and little blonde curls - everyone comments about how cute you are. I'm sure that hasn't changed and I have even more grey hairs due to the girls chasing after you. Though I'm guessing your girlfriend is athletic and wears sweatpants most days. I probably love her and try to steal her away for girl time. She loves it, so stop butting in.

I love you so very much. You're one of my favorite things and I love that I'm your mama. You nuzzle into me every time I pick you up and stare into my eyes. I don't tell your dad or Cole, but I know I'm your real favorite. The crying act for dad is just for show.

My wish for you is that over these past 16 years you've: been able to laugh at yourself, been kind to everyone, been grateful, loved your brother, listened to your parents, been the sticky hands kid, didn't play iPad or watch TV too much, learned from your mistakes, cuddled with your mama every night, told your Grandparents that you love them, learned how to play an instrument, went against the status quo, made a fool of yourself at least 9 times, eaten your veggies, done well in school, picked up your room, broken at least 2 bones, given your dad hugs in public, laughed every chance you got, beat up the bully and stood up for the underdog, danced at a school dance even if your friends thought it was lame, volunteered, learned how to make a minimum of 6 meals and have been over the sun and moon happy!

Love you bear!
