Welcome

Though most of this blog contains pictures, it's also a detailed account of my life living with three boys. And yes, they are all boys. Hope you enjoy... they're pretty cute (but often smell).

Week 15

Naval Orange: Continuing the march toward normal proportions, Los’ legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Carlos is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though I can't feel the movements just yet.

Not too much to report on the baby front. Tummy is getting a little bigger but only after I eat. I’m anxiously awaiting the “wow, she’s pregnant” look vs. the “I think she’s just put on some weight” look.

As far as everything else; no real food cravings or aversions. Energy level is back up though my back still isn’t 100% so I haven’t been able to fully test out my energy supply... and apparently I have started “nesting” (according to Nicole). I’ve been baking/cooking a lot but I think it’s more due to the fact that I have a lot more time on my hands (waking up at 7:00am on the weekends will do that). Whatever the cause, I’m fully enjoying the fruits of my labor.

Exhibit A: Pineapple Upside Down Cake. It was REALLY good!

I hope everyone has a great week – mine includes the new Twilight movie (hehehe) and only 3 days of work!

Week 14 and a Very Happy Father's Day!

Lemon: Carlos is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over its body for warmth.

I’m sure you all are dying to know how my back is doing – well I’m happy to report that I am mobile once more! Not as quickly or gracefully as before but I’m getting there. I’m just happy to be able to get out of the shower without Jason’s help and not have to lie on the floor all day!

This weekend was filled with good food, softball (Jason had another tourney), and great company! I was happy to see the sun for the first time in weeks and was even happier to spend some time with my parents on Father’s Day! We ate some really great food (yes, food is a constant theme in my life) and some great laughs!

Gene: Thanks for being such an amazing Dad!

I hope all the Father’s had a great weekend - Jason had the realization that this will be the last Father’s Day without presents! Priorities.

Last lines:

Happy Birthday Nicole - hope you had a wonderful day!!!

Jen, hope your shoulder is ok - you'll just have to come and do the sprint tri with Nic and I next June!

Congrats to Bates on completing her first Marathon!!!

Week 13

Peach: 'Los is forming teeth and vocal cords... Approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

The not-so-great side effects of being pregnant have hit. This past weekend, while teaching yoga, I twisted the wrong way and BAM! Back has gone awry. Basically I've been immobile for the past three days... going from couch, to floor, to bed. How anyone could stay sane on bed rest is beyond me...

How this relates to Lil' Los - according to my PT, women's ligaments get really loose during pregnancy - due to this extra stretchiness my muscles tensed up even more than normal and have made my entire right side one scrunched-up muscle spasm. I'm pretty much tipped to my right at all times. Mix the back pain (which I'm convinced trumps labor) with the increased hormones and I'm one big puddle of frustrated tears. Poor Jason doesn't know what to do... except bring me ice cream and Cherry Limeades!

So on that happy note - hope everyone is having a great week... and think happy, "be nice to Brittney" thoughts to my messed up back!

Jason

I'm not usually the mushy type but I have to take up a little space on here to say "thank you" to my baby-daddy!

Jason has been so wonderful and has been spoiling me rotten these past three months. Whether its cleaning the cat box, not getting mad when I wake him up to pee at 3am, picking up Cherry Limeade from Taco Bell at 9pm, sitting through hours of True Blood, going on bike rides with me at 7am on Saturday mornings (no hangover for this girl) or just telling me I'm beautiful when I feel like a bloated mess. He's been the greatest and I can't imagine life without him.

Thanks Jason - I love you!

Ok... that's all the sap you're going to get from me for the next 7 months. Promise! :)

Week 12 and Mayhem

Another great weekend filled with friends and fun (that sounded so corny).

On Friday night Nicole and Sam came over and brought the beautiful Nora. I can’t believe how tall she is… and the fact that she is 5 months old!

It was great to catch-up and I got rave reviews for the meal all thanks to Mr. Bobby Flay! [Burger and Sweet Potato Fries]
Saturday was kicked off with a long bike ride with J and then up to Nicole and Justin’s with the lovely Sarah Bates (yes, I know you’re married and have a new last name but I just can’t do it). Hannah is still just as cute and it was great to see some old friends. While I was playing some Beer Pole, J was off taking names on the softball field.

Taught some yoga on Sunday while my cute handy-man fixed the dryer and cleaned the garage. Then it was off to the softball fields where Mayhem took 3rd place and got their bids to State AND National’s in FL!

Sunday night was filled with some couch time and the MTV Movie Awards. Tom Cruise has totally redeemed himself again! Click here to watch the video that had J and I rolling!

Plum: As I move into the second trimester, Carlos shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of its systems are fully formed.

We've hit week 12!!! I can feel my energy level already starting to go up (well, sorta)... But it is an awesome feeling to be almost out of my first trimester. Also a little weird that I'm a third of the way done... That went by really fast!

Week 11 and Memorial Day Weekend

What a weekend! For not having too much planned we sure did a ton.

Friday: Worked a half-day and then had a great lunch with J. After that it was off to Best Buy to pick-up our new TV and Blue Ray player. I'm not going to try and tell you about it... that would be J's department. After getting it all hooked up and mounted it was off to Couple's Golf League with J and Adam. Lots of fun topped off with Culver's Ice Cream... Oh, and Chuckwagons for the guys (yuck)!

Saturday:
I got up nice and early and went over to see Nicole/Justin and meet Hannah. Of course I ended up waking the entire family up but at least they came to the door! Hannah is one of the cutest little girls I've ever seen - Lots of hair and squeezable cheeks! Mama and Papa were doing great - lots of smiles all around!
After the Johnston's, J and I went to check out a new Pita Pit spot and then down to the St. Croix River to help christen the Fraley's new pantoon! Talk about a beautiful way to spend an afternoon! It was fun in the sun until about 6:00 when we headed over to Lindsey and Josh's for a BBQ.
Lots of girls in town including the lovely Olivia (Ashley and Andy's little girl). I think she won J over pretty quickly because he was nothing but giggles with her. Olivia is one of the calmest little babies I've ever met - Lots of squirming around but also a lot of smiles!

After a long night (and lots of miles on my car) I was ready for bed...

Sunday:
Taught yoga in the morning to a larger-then-expected class then ran errands with J. We quickly learned that Costco is the most dangerous store in the world.
Sunday night brought-on chicken/pineapple kabobs and smores at our house with all the ladies. Recommendation for all those smore lovers out there: try Reese's Peanut Butter Cup instead of plain-old chocolate! WAY BETTER!

Monday:
You think I would be exhausted from all the running around but we were up and on our bikes by 8:00am - so many great paths around the Grove and I think we hit about half of them during our three hour trek.

After some left-over-lunch it was off to Maliq's soccer game (they won of course) and then golf for J. I decided to skip the 18 holes and opted for a mani and some much needed couch time...

So there you have it! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as J and I did!

Lime: Carlos currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through it. But fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds, and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

As far as I go - nothing new to report. Still tired (ask the guests I kicked out at 10:30 on Sunday night) but still not sick! I'll take that trade-off any day! I did get a new ultrasound done last week that I will try to scan later this week... have to be sneaky about it! It was crazy to see the changes in Carlos and how much bigger he's gotten. I think I scared the nurse by my initial reaction... I'm guessing most people don't say "holy shit, look how big he's gotten"
