Welcome

Though most of this blog contains pictures, it's also a detailed account of my life living with three boys. And yes, they are all boys. Hope you enjoy... they're pretty cute (but often smell).

Weekend Treat

Don't you just love trick ingredients? Those things that go into amazing meals/desserts and when you find out they're in there you're shocked and bewildered?

No?

Well I am!

Today at lunch a co-worker brought in this oh-so-delicious Apple Dumpling dessert... Being pregnant I got two servings of it... I could have easily had another 5 it was that good.

When I asked what was in it she happily shared the ingredient list and then giggled as she told me the last step: add a 1/2 can of Mountain Dew

Really?!?!? Tricky!

So this weekend I will be making my own batch of Tricky Ingredient Apple Dumplings. If you're around the Grove stop by and I'll give you some... I like to share (Jason, however, does not).

If you're not around and want to make it for yourself, here is the recipe link at Pioneer Woman: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/02/apple_dumplings/

Enjoy and happy eats!

[Obviously not mine as I haven't made it yet... silly! I'll post pic if it doesn't get inhaled right away]

Way To Go!

As mentioned in my previous post, Jason was in Orlando all weekend for World's [BIG softball tournament]. Not only did they place higher than any other MN team but they finished 13th out of 208 teams!!!

So congrats to all the boys of Mayhem... and congrats to me for now getting my husband back on weekends! :)

And of course the "Jason Scowl" from their last night on the town!

What To Do?

So I’ve gotten a few comments that I haven’t been updating enough. I didn’t realize people were checking in on us… Sorry! I’ll try a do better – at least with more shoe pictures!

Haha: Jason says this blog went from being about pregnancy to cooking to fashion…

Today, it's a To-Do List!

Things I Must Do:

  • Finish putting away my laundry before Jason gets home from Orlando (its currently in a pile on the floor)
  • Go grocery shopping (can no longer eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch for dinner)
  • Get caught-up on my shows (currently have new episodes of Glee, Vampire Diaries, Project Runway and Modern Family to watch)
  • Finish reading my Prego Books
  • Fill-up my Jolly Rancher bowl at work (apparently no one likes Apple)

Things I Should Do:

  • Make more Monster Cookies for Jason (it’s the small things in life)
  • Get my oil changed before I’m 500 miles past again
  • Start work on my yoga website
  • Clean the bathroom (not prison toilet status yet, but getting there)
  • Figure out when Lewis will have to leave me for my parents’ (he’s evil but I will miss him)

Things I Want to Do:

  • Snuggle in bed all weekend watching chic flicks
  • Buy two more Savasana Wraps from Lululemon (it’s like a chic Snuggie)
  • Go see Never Let Me Go… well, finish/start the book and THEN go see it
  • Have a big girl’s dinner where I successfully make the 5+ recipes I pulled from the latest Bon Appétit
  • Give my (undefeated) husband a big smooch [insert eye-roll for cheesetastic comment]

Well, hope you all have a wonderful weekend – I’ll be doing some yoga, watching some soccer, teaching some yoga, and thinking fun thoughts for Miss Angie Knoll’s birthday bash in Green Bay!

[Side note: Jason's softball team made it to World's so he's currently in Orlando playing... as of this moment they are 3-0!]

Double Digits - WooHoo!

How big is baby? At our last doctor appointment (9/10) the little bugger was 1 lb. 13 ounces (74thpercentile). If he keeps up this pace I’m in for a hefty kid!

Maternity Clothes? I think I might have to buy some maternity shirts. I’ve been busted (by Jason) a few times with the bottom half of my belly sticking out from my non-prego shirts. But I refuse to give up my heels… in fact; I just purchased a very cute pair on suede booties (2.5” heel of course). Here’s a picture for you:

Sleep: Sleep has become a bit irregular lately. Some nights it’s fine and other nights it’s not so fine. I’m trying out the “pillow between the knees” suggestion and hoping that will work. The dream factor is still nuts. It’s amazing how vivid they are!!! Most mornings I have to lie in bed and reassure myself that I didn’t decide to go all surrealist on the nursery…

Movement: This kid is break dancing in my stomach which is a new development over the past week – I swear he never stops. Just when I think he’s calmed down… BAM! A whole other round of kicks and punches. I’ve been told this slows down once he gets bigger due to lack of room, but I’m pretty lengthy so I think he’ll be tangoing up until the end.

Food cravings: Not much to report again. I’m trying to cut back on my sweet tooth… a 10 lb weight gain in a month will do that to you!

What I miss: Yoga… aggressive workouts… a really good glass of wine after a hellish week at work.

What I am looking forward to: Cold weather and getting closer to the showers. When it was super warm out it felt that the baby coming was really far away. As the weather changes it starting to feel like it’s finally getting closer and I’m really excited for it. I’m also really excited for the showers that are being planned. Obviously it will be awesome to get more stuff for the baby but I’m mainly excited to see everyone. So many of my girlfriends live out-of-state so I don’t get to see them as often as I like. Knowing that I get to see that and giggle with them in a few short months is SO wonderful!

Milestones: The countdown is now in double-digits! I probably shouldn’t look at it (a watched pot never boils and all that jazz) but it was cool to see if move from 100 to 99! Other mini-milestones: finishing painting the nursery (scroll down for pictures), registering for baby stuff, deciding on a name (sorry, keeping that one a surprise), passing my glucose test (you have no idea how nervous I was for that one), and winning my first fantasy football match-up!

Say What?: So I must look angry because I haven’t had any strangers approach me with advice or ask to touch my stomach. The only reason I want the second one to happen is because I’ve decided upon a smart-ass response (shocking, I know) and I’m dying to say it.

What I have noticed, and that kind of baffles me, is when people you know/work with ask you how you are, and you just say “fine, how are you?” and they seem pissed. Like I’m always supposed to go into some lengthy chat about my peeing habits or the details of my ovaries! Sorry sir, not gonna happen. And why is it such a bad thing to care about someone else? Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean I need to be the center of the universe (though I think it might be orbiting around my belly if it gets any bigger)… I know they care and are excited for me but I don’t always want to talk about the fact that I can’t see my cute shoes!

101 Days to Go

Checking Things Off the To-Do List

A couple of weeks ago I started freaking out that we had nothing done. I hadn't registered yet, we hadn't decided what to do for a nursery, and I wasn't even close to finishing any of those damn baby books I bought at the beginning!

So, over Labor Day weekend, I got online and started registering for stuff at Target and we started on the nursery. The nursery is almost done so I thought I'd share some before and after pictures with you. Enjoy!

before

Jason putting the first coat of blue on the walls
Lewis helping out

after (behind the door)

after (corner of the room - same angle as the before pic above)

Me... freestyle painting some clouds!

Just a few more touches and then we'll start getting some furniture in there! As for finishing those baby books... not even close!

Back to School

We have so many friends who are teachers so I thought it appropriate to treat you to a little song and wish you all the best of luck for the new school year!

"Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight. Oh! Back to school... back to school... back to school. Well, here goes nothing."

Dear Super Cute Gladiator Heels,

Dear Super Cute Gladiator Heels,

I want to thank you for all the fun times we've had together this summer and for how cute you make every outfit. It is with a sad heart that I have to say good-bye to you. Due to the increased size of my belly it’s become next to impossible to put you on and buckle you up properly.

Please don’t think you've done anything wrong, we’re just not a good match anymore.

Maybe next year.

Sincerely,

Brittney
