Welcome

Though most of this blog contains pictures, it's also a detailed account of my life living with three boys. And yes, they are all boys. Hope you enjoy... they're pretty cute (but often smell).

I already have a kid...

I think our house will be a single parent household sometimes with how silly Jason can be. He called me on my way home last night to ask where I was on my drive... I didn't realize why he cared until I pulled onto the main street before ours and saw J waiting on his bike. Once he saw me - BAM! He took off trying to race me home...

Like I said - It will be just me and two little kids!

Weekend Update and Week 19

For a weekend that was spent running around, it sure was a fun one!

Friday: After work I headed over to Jason’s softball game where I met up with Jason’s parents and cousins Sydney and Eric (in from Seattle). After they won (of course) we all headed to BW3s and then prego had to go home and get some sleep – it was a LONG week…

Saturday: Jason had a tee-time at 7:30am so I was graciously woken up at 6:00am!!! As he went off to Hazy Morning I went for a bike ride and then for a “surprising” haircut [the surprise was the 90210 bangs I ended up with]. Then the fun: our dear friend Jordan is leaving us for Denver so a going away party was hosted in his honor. Grilling at Ross’ was followed by an interesting, “guys only”, evening activity. I’ll let Jason fill you in on that but it sounded like a fun time!

Sunday: As I taught yoga Jason once again played golf but this time to support the Forest Lake Hockey Blue Line Club (not exactly a charity but close). As he continued to drive the green I got to have fun at the Como Zoo with Syd, Eric, Pat, Dave, Lisa and Dan (Jason’s aunt and uncle). I forgot how much fun the zoo can be… and how painful the sun can be when you forget sunscreen! After mini-donuts and dipin’ dots I left the zoo to pick-up Jason for pizza and True Blood (yes, more food).

So there you have it – Jason has LOTS of pictures from the going away party but those aren’t very baby friendly so he’ll have to email those to you separately!

Mango: [Note: I’m skipping the update on the baby because it was all about dead skin cells and fluids – I thought the mama update was a little more reader friendly]. Those nasty leg cramps are probably making it tough to get comfortable. One way to ease the pain: Extend your leg and flex your ankle and toes toward your knees. Or enlist your partner for a calf (and back!) massage. Good news: Your now-bulging belly should get you a little more compassion from everyone around you.

I can’t complain too much about the leg cramps or the pre-pubescent skin that I’ve got rocking since I’ve had a pretty easy pregnancy so far… no stomach sickness, no heartburn, not a single food aversion/craving… I am getting a little tired of the “prego-brain” but if losing my train of thought is at bad as its going to get, I’ll take it!

I've also been getting a lot of requests for belly pictures... There's not a whole lot to show right now. It's definitely bigger than before but not that exciting... BUT I'll try to get one taken this week/weekend and post it so some of you will quiet down! :)

Not so sure about this combo...

I was going through our computer to find some pictures for a friend when I cam across these two gems and it made me ask:
What is this kid going to look and act like?
By the looks of my GI Joe PJs and Jason's biker shorts the kid will have a sense of style!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Middle School Dinner

“I made them extra sloppy for ya” – this is what J repeated over and over again as he came prancing into the kitchen for dinner.

Two nights ago I decided to make some Sloppy Joes sans recipe. Risky? Yes. Dangerous? No. It’s just dinner and there is a Jimmy John’s five minutes from the house.

So I called my mom and asked for the basic ingredient list, went to Trader Joe’s to pick-up ground turkey (semi-healthy Joe’s) and then made my way home to make them.

It was pretty easy – just cooked the meat and then threw in what sounded right: onions, A1, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar and some pepper. To my delight (not surprise) they turned out really good and made enough for dinner the next night.

And yes, that is a Packer remote... Feel free to leave comments for Jason.

Weekend Round-Up and Week 18

This is going to be a long one so buckle-up!

Friday: Doctor’s appointment where Lil’ Los decided to keep his/her legs crossed so we’ll be waiting until Aug. 13th to find out if it’s a boy or girl. Went to see Inception at 10:30 – who says you can’t enjoy gummy bears and popcorn before noon? If you haven’t seen it yet, go now! It was awesome! In the evening we headed down to the Twin’s game with Mama and Papa Pugh. Such a fun, hot night!

Saturday: Lunch with the wonderful Carol and Jenny Holm (and my beautiful mom) at Panino’s (if you haven’t been, go now). Lots of laughter and catching up – one of my favorite things in the whole wide world. After lunch Jen and I went to see little Hannah and catch-up with the Johnston’s. Then it was off to shop and grab dinner with the ladies… All before the MASSIVE storm swept through the cities. I spent the evening in the basement (by myself) desperately searching for internet as the TV was down and I had no idea if I would live or die (tornados are NOT a part of my favorite things). As I huddled downstairs Nicole was stuck in a Walgreens bathroom waiting out the storm… I think she had it worse.
Sunday: Got up and taught some yoga, cleaned the house, mowed the lawn and then hosted an impromptu dinner party with a few of J’s friends… This nesting menu featured Chicken Fajitas, Carlos Quinoa, Guacamole and Lime Cake with Blackberry Sauce (which was a MAJOR fail). The boys turned the night into a little Sunday Funday as I sipped my O’Douls and laughed at their stories.

WEEKLY UPDATE:

Sweet Potato: Los is become amazingly mobile, passing the hours yawning, hiccupping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking, and swallowing. Carlos is finally big enough that I'll soon be able to feel his/her movements.

Jason was able to witness these movements first hand at our Doc appt last Friday. I don't think he was prepared to see the little arms flying around in my tummy as he yelled "holy crap, does that hurt" as he stared at the monitor. All the nurses (except one) thought he was cute as he weighed and measured himself while I got my finger pricked!

Besides not finding out the sex it was a great appointment. Los is healthy and measuring a week ahead/bigger than normal. I'm not surprised but a little nervous as we are only 18 weeks in and this baby is already super-sized.

We've Got a Shy Guy/Gal On Our Hands

Carlos decided to be shy yesterday so we weren't able to find out if it's a Lil' Pugh or Lil' Bones. Guess we'll have to wait another month... On the positive side: you still have another month to take a guess in our poll [look right]!

I Guess You Could Call it a Craving

Not trying to turn this into a food blog but I do have to tell you about my new favorite dinner/lunch/side/whatever… Carlos Quinoa. I made this recipe up but you can basically add anything to quinoa and it will be good. [Note: “Quinoa” sounds pretentious to me so you’ll never hear me pronounce it correctly]

Here it goes: Take one cup quinoa and two cups water – add about ¼ - ½ bag of taco seasoning (I use El Paso but whatever you want). Bring it to a boil then cover it and let it simmer for about 10 minutes (or until the water is all gone). After that I added canned black beans and corn and BAM, my new favorite.

Again, add whatever you like to it – all I know is it’s tasty and super healthy! Oh, it makes a lot too!

p.s. No pictures to post as I just finished the last of it for lunch...

Cookie Monster

The nesting continues... last night I made J's favorite cookies: Monster Cookies! Here's some photos from my baking excursion:

Ingredients (well, not the champaign - that's for December 27th)

The sticky-gooey mix

The final product - Yummy cookies - LOTS of yummy cookies!

Click HERE for the recipe! I made a few adjustments but not many...

Week 17

Onion: Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. His umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes now feature one-of-a-kind prints.

This is the week… Hopefully.

I’m trying not to get my hopes up [of finding out if Carlos is a boy or girl] but it’s hard not to. There are so many reasons it won’t work but I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed all week.

This weekend was a filled with softball and pampering. After hitting my second tri I’ve been itching to get my hair touched up and was able to get in on Saturday with the fab Stacy Fraley at Guys & Dolls. What was even better about this trip was that my mom came with for a belated Mother’s Day/Birthday gift. She got a super cute cut and I got blonder. After we headed next door for Manis/Pedis and then lunch. It was a great day!!!

Jason’s softball team had a tourney in Robbinsdale/Crystal where they took home the first place trophy after many games in the hot sun. J is looking quite tan these days… I’m just a tad darker then transparent.

We also got to see Jenna and all of her friends as they ventured home from a weekend Bachelorette party… They didn’t look as rough as I thought they would and they had lots of hilarious stories to tell, though completely inappropriate for a baby blog!

It was a really fun weekend but I’m thinking this upcoming weekend might top it: having Friday off, a Carlos reveal, Twin’s Game with the Pugh’s, old friends in town, and much more! Did I mention we might find out of we’re having a boy or girl? :)

Outted at Work

Well, I got outted at work. Last Friday I decided to throw a potluck breakfast since it had been a very stressful week in the office. To my surprise we had a tremendous turnout both with people and food! [Side note: my fruit pizza was a huge hit – I’m just saying].

Near the end of the breakfast a co-worker got up to say “thank you” to me for coordinating the get-together… As I politely started turning red my boss’ assistant loudly proclaimed to the 60+ ears in the room “Yep, leave it to the pregnant girl to tell people to bring in food”. The slight pink tint to my checks instantly went to dark red as I whispered to Elie “no one knows I’m pregnant yet!” She of course felt mortified and apologized a million times over the next ten minutes.

On the bright side, at least I won’t have to worry about people looking at my growing belly and doing the “is she/isn’t she” debate.

My fruit pizza

Week 16 and 4th of July

Avocado: Have to start watching what I say...tiny bones forming in Carlos' ears mean he/she can now pick up my voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

Now personally I think an orange is bigger than an avocado but Jason decided it must be one of those mammoth ones from somewhere tropical! That made me feel better!

Other then sprouting some hair ‘Los has been pretty inactive from my side of the stomach. I’m getting to the stage of “come on, let’s see something here” but I’m trying to be patient. We have a doctor appointment next Friday where (fingers crossed) we’ll hopefully be finding out the sex. It will be close with timing but I think the little bugger will make it happen!

4th of July Round-Up: Trip to Milacs, a round of golf, countless rounds of cribbage, Mexican Train (new favorite game), movies galore, bike rides, extended family dinners, LOTS of donuts, and of course fireworks (big and little). It was a really fun weekend which made it all the more difficult to get out of bed this morning.

Hope all of you had a wonderful weekend!!!!

p.s. I added a "boy or girl" poll on the right side of the page to see what everyone thinks we'll be having!
